When you update Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) you will receive an error message which states that the expected version was not found. When you try to install Microsoft Office XP SP3, you will receive the following error message:
The expected version of the product was not found on your system.
If you have Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 1 or Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 installed and updated from an administrative installation point. Then this error may generate. If you try to update your Office XP installation from Microsoft Web sites which generally is binary updates. Second Method: Use a new RTM-base level administrative installation point: If you do not want to maintain your office XP administrative installation point with the updates and service packs then you can create a new XP installation point at the Office XP RTM-base level. When you are done with installing Office XP to a client computer from your new Office XP RTM-base administrative installation point then you can use the binary updates from any of the Microsoft Web sites. Always purchase and install a retail version of Office XP, and then install Service Pack 1 on the released version. Beta versions and unreleased versions cannot be updated.
