When you update Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) you will receive an error message which states that the expected version was not found. Second Method: Use a new RTM-base level administrative installation point: If you do not want to maintain your office XP administrative installation point with the updates and service packs then you can create a new XP installation point at the Office XP RTM-base level. When you are done with installing Office XP to a client computer from your new Office XP RTM-base administrative installation point then you can use the binary updates from any of the Microsoft Web sites. Always purchase and install a retail version of Office XP, and then install Service Pack 1 on the released version. Beta versions and unreleased versions cannot be updated.
