Windows Package Installer Error 1722 is very common and you may get this problem by adding, removing or updating a program. It is categorized as installer error that prevents you from installing or uninstalling a program. You may get one of the following error messages:

1. Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

2. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.

Or,

3. Windows Installer Service couldn’t be started.

Or,

4. Could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer. Error 5: Access is denied.

How to fix Windows Package Installer Error 1722?

Solution 1: Fix using Advanced System Repair Tool Repair Tool

Solution 2: Start the Windows Installer Service

This is one of the biggest reason that causes windows installer error 1722. You must check for Windows Installer Service, whether it is running or not. Here, is the steps to start Windows Installer Service.

Step 1: Go to Start menu and type CMD in the search box.
open cmd

Step 2: Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
open cmd

Step 3: Now, type following command in cmd and press Enter. It will start Installer service.

net start MSIServer

Step 4: Restart software installation again and hopefully you won’t get Error code 1722.
 
 
Solution 3: Set Installer Service to Manual

Step 1: Press Windows Key + R to open the Run command window. Type Services.msc and press OK. It will open Services Window.

Step 2: Find Windows Installer in Services (Local), Right click on it and select Properties.
Step 3: In the Startup Type drop-down box, set the value, Manual.
Step 4: Save the settings and exit the window.
Step 5: Now, try to install the software again.

Solution 4: Remove the Previous version of software

Sometimes if you try to install a newer version of software over an older version, it throws installer error 1722. You must completely remove the older version of software then Restart your Windows.

Solution 5: Repair the Registry File

When the Windows installer registry settings were corrupted, then no method will work until you fix registry problem.
