ii) System Restore:
If manual file setting is missing, then it can be solved with the help of system restore. Click on Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools, System restore.
iii) Disable security services:
Since security services or background running services may be problematic issue so you need to disable all before Windows update.
iv) Scan full system:
It may that malicious programs injected in the system and damage system files, component required to update Windows, delete files, change settings so you have to scan the full system and be sure that the system is protected.
